Decrease in speed limit
In winter, the high emissions of pollutants in the air associated with stable anticyclonic weather conditions favor episodes of pollution in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and Savoie regions.
In order to protect the population, the Government sets up an alert system and speed reductions may be recommended or imposed on drivers for all roads in a geographical area.
The Crit’air vignette
To improve air quality, some cities have decided to take restrictive measures to limit traffic. In Auvergne Rhône-Alpes: Grand Lyon, Grenoble Métropole, Annecy and Chambéry are concerned by the implementation of a certificate of air quality designated by the term « Vignette Crit’air ». These vignettes identify the vehicles allowed to circulate during a pollution spike peak. When such a peak is reached, only vehicles equipped with a class 1 to 3 vignette are allowed to circulate. Remember to equip your vehicle by purchasing the vignette on https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/fr/
